This Art Nouveau hat pin is in a romantic design of a woman with wings. This design is of a young woman with a dreamy look and angelic wings. This type of design is often found in Art Nouveau antique jewelry. This 14kt gold plated pin measures 5 1/4 inch. Hat pins were worn by ladies to secure their hats. This vintage hat pin has the same design on front and back. This estate jewelry hat pin does have a few nicks on the pin stick, the design face is in excellent condition. The Art Nouveau Jewelry period only lasted from about 1890 to the beginning of the First World War. This was a period of revolt in jewelry design and a period of intense creativity. During this period, it was considered quite forward for a woman to wear jewelry with a human image.
