This estate ladies filigree wedding ring is very attractive. A fiery, clear old European-cut diamond (1/3 carat) is center mounted in an octagonal frame and held tightly by eight golden prongs. Adding fire to each side of this center diamond are two bright single cut diamonds held in square frames. A feminine18kt (750) open work filigree mounting further enhances the beauty of this estate engagement ring. Rich four petal flowers are engraved along the sides of this ring, while engraved scrolls trail this ring shank.
This center stone is an old European-cut diamond. This was the predominant diamond cut in the early 1900s, though called the European-cut, this diamond was most likely cut in the USA. The features of this diamond cut are somewhat similar to old mine-cut diamonds. Both diamond cuts have high crowns, fewer cuts and an open culet.
